10 Tips on Barking Control.

If your dog barks incessantly then you really need help.

You will need to take action and show your dog who is boss.

Here are 10 tips on Barking Control.

1* Dogs communicate by Barking. Does your dog need a toilet walk ?

2* Is the Barking just to greet you ? If your pet jumps up at you all the time then cross your arms and turn sideways so that you are not facing him or her. This will puzzle him or her at first but it will stop jumping and barking at you.

Dog Barking Relief

3* Is there a danger that your dog has sensed (dogs often feel danger before we do).

4* Does your dog suffer from boredom – make time every day for fun and games.

5* Are there any strangers around – dogs can be very protective of strangers.Postmen are alwaays considered as strangers !

6* Does your dog continue to bark after you have told him/her to stop ? If so just gently clasp your hands around his or her muzzle and say QUIET

7* To stop a dog continuously barking grab its collar and repeat your stop word. It is important to always use the same stop word.

8* When you have a new visitor allow the dog to bark once or twice and then use your stop word or phrase.. then distract your pet with their favourite treat (mine love dried tripe !) Then give your pet a cuddle and lots of praise.

9* Some dogs bark when left alone. Always tell your poet you will be back soon – dogs really can tell the time so try to be back when you say you will return.

10* When you leave the house make quite sure that they have eaten any treat you have given them – sometimes dogs get treats stuck in their throats and that would be tragic.

Bark,Bark,Yap ..
Very few things are as annoying as a dog that barks continually.
That cute little bundle of fluff you fell in love with can quickly turn into a nightmare.
There are a number of reasons why dogs bark.
Dogs use barking as a method of communication.

Spaniel

In the early morning almost all dogs bark out a short message.
This is a dual purpose message - it reinforces their territory and warns other dogs off.

Getting a Dog to stop Barking
Other messages are for excitement over food or going for a walk.
They usually bark because they feel neglected or because other dogs nearby are barking.
The main problem is that a barking dog is an annoyance both to you and your neighbours

One noisy dog in the vicinity usually sets off all other dogs within earshot.

How to Stop Dog Barking
If you dog howls when you are not near then you may have an insecure dog.

Dog Barking Relief

Dogs like this are often left outdoors on their own with little contact with you or with other dogs.
If your Dog is howling or barking when ignored, then separation anxiety is probably the culprit.
Separation anxiety usually starts with insecurities and fear.
Your neighbour may not even know their dog is behaving like this.
The best way to deal with the problem then is to talk to your neighbour about it.
For a few days keep a log of exact times when the neighbour dog starts and ends barking
Show this to your neighbour and they will probably agree that something needs to be done about the proble..
If the problem is with your neighbours dog and they refuse to do anything about the noise then speak to your local dog warden.
You have a Legal right in most countries to peace and quiet and the dog warden has surprisingly stong powers.
This is compounded when the owner has several dogs and they all start to howl

First you must realise that all dogs are pack animals and that you are leader of the pack. If you are absent
then they feel leaderless. Dogs LIKE being told what to do.

There is not much you can do with a dog that sits and howls at other dogs or your neighbours except to fit an anti-barking device.
(Or keep the dog indoor and fit double glazing !).
A dog like this is just being over-protective of his or her property and the best way to deal with it is to introduce your neighbour as
a FRIEND and ask him or her to come round several times to play with your dog.

Small Dogs can be particularly annoying since they have a tendency to Yap. That is particularly annoying.

Stop Small Dog Barking
That usually has the desired result. This does not work with cats though so I do not recommend it as your dog will end up badly scratched.

Spaniel Puppies

a Good alternative is a sound activated collar that either gives the dog a tiny electric shock but in my view a kinder alternative is
to give your dog a collar that work similarly but it emits a puff of Citronella which Dogs hate when the dog barks!
You can also
Teach your dog a simple command (Like QUIET while at the same time covering its muzzle with both hands.)
This very simple system usually works within a couple of days of patient tuition..
ONLY use this method with Your Own Dog !
Here is an excellent book that will help you train a dog to stop barking

Its an EXCELLENT SOLUTION to Barking Relief - it really works !

Check it out for yourself (just click the picture)
