The world of Pet Food can be very shady. Pet food manufacture is not regulated as much as human food and even some large companies take great advantage of that fact

Ever heard the saying Garbage in Garbage out ?;
That is a familiar computer term
It also applies to Dog Food.;

High Grade Dog Food is really up to the same level of wholesomeness as products made for humans.

However, the same cannot be said of the low grade dog foods that are offered by many companies.

Major Corporations in the Food industry either sell or use in their own dog food companies food that would not be permitted to be sold to humans
This includes waste from processing plants like oils and unpalatable meat products

When this is mixed together the oil and grease previously used for frying food coats the meat and the cereal products put in as fillers to bulk up the end product
Dogs love it. But it is very BAD for them
And used regularly you may be shortening your pets lifespan.
That could be by as much as five or six years. So what is the answer ?
There are now a number of companies producing dog food that really is of the same grade as food produced for us.
It is frankly a little more expensive than chainstore dog food but if it helps your Spaniel live longer then that is sufficient reason to buy higher grade food.

Things to look for on a packet are :
fat content,
the cereal percentage,
what preservatives are used.
You would not eat meat packed with preservatives,food enhancers, monosodium glutamate or similar nasty things.

It makes sense not to feed it to your dog.
